Immanuel Lutheran Church
Akron, IA
FELLOWSHIP
The Immanuel Lutheran family finds many ways to enjoy fellowship throughout the year. Every Sunday after the service, the congregation is welcomed to meet in our fellowship hall to enjoy a light snack and a time to gather with our church family. You will often find our youth racing to the basement to find out what tasty treat awaits them each week!
Every year the church partakes in a Harvest Festival. On this day you will find the church decorated with signs of the season. This is a time for us to celebrate our farming community and the blessings of harvest season. Following our service, a potluck lunch is served and usually includes fall favorites!
Each December, our congregation is invited to bundle up and go for a hay ride around Akron to sing carols to our shut-ins and Akron community. This tradition is a great way to spread the good news of Christ's birth and spread joy to others!
In February, our Third and Main youth group students raise money for our local food pantries and soup kitchens. This is one of the favorite services of the year. Our youth lead the service and the congregation come to church decked out in their favorite team attire. Since this is held on Superbowl Sunday, votes are cast to see who the congregation is rooting for by having a donation bucket set out for each team...or if you are upset by who made it to the final game, you can always put it in the "I don't want to root for either" bucket! Following this service, a luncheon is held where you can enjoy a variety of soups and salads. A panel of judges is selected to vote on the favorite soup. You don't want to miss out on the trivia...you can't eat until your table wins!
After our sunrise service on Easter, our Third and Main students once again provide a time for us to gather and celebrate Christ's resurrection. The congregation and their guests are provided a breakfast of egg-bake and cinnamon rolls by our youth as they prepare to go celebrate this miracle with their families!
